NGC 1264 is a faint barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBab in the constellation Perseus in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 150 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1259 , NGC 1260 , NGC 1267 , NGC 1268 .
The object was discovered by Guillaume Bigourdan on October 19, 1884 .
