NGC 1236 is a spiral galaxy from the Hubble type S in the constellation ram on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 341 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered on October 5, 1864 by the astronomer Albert Marth .
