NGC 1221 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Eridanus in the southern starry sky . It is estimated to be 385 million light years from the Milky Way and about 140,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 1223 , NGC 1225 and IC 1886 are located in the same area of the sky .
