NGC 1204 is an active lenticular galaxy with a high rate of star formation of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 204 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1196 , NGC 1200 , IC 285 , IC 287 .
The property was discovered by Francis Preserved Leavenworth on December 26, 1886 .
