NGC 1185 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Eridanus at the southern sky . It is estimated to be 220 million light years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 1182 , NGC 1206 , NGC 1208 are located in the same area of the sky .
The property was discovered by Francis Preserved Leavenworth in 1886 .
