NGC 1188 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 114 million light years from the Milky Way and about 35,000 light years across.
The galaxies NGC 1189 , NGC 1189, NGC 1190 , NGC 1192 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on December 2, 1885 by the American astronomer Francis Preserved Leavenworth .
