NGC 1211 is a ring and lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Cetus south of the celestial equator . It is an estimated 143 million light years away from the Milky Way and is approximately 90,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 1194 and IC 283 .
The object was discovered on October 31, 1867 by the astronomer Truman Henry Safford .
