August Ibing

August Ibing (born January 12, 1878 in the Sprockhövel office , Hagen district ; † 1959 in Dalwigksthal , Waldeck district ) was a German painter and graphic artist from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Ibing enrolled in 1894 to study painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . Heinrich Lauenstein was his teacher in their elementary class . Further teachers were Claus Meyer , Willy Spatz and above all Peter Janssen the Elder , whose master class he became. Ibing, who gained a reputation as a church , portrait , landscape and still life painter and as such took part in exhibitions in Düsseldorf , settled in Düsseldorf - Derendorf at Collenbachstrasse 31. The painter Eduard Kintrup (1896–1959) became his pupil in his studio. The painter Ida Beckhaus (1885–1971), later his partner, was his student. Ibing was a member of the artists' association Malkasten in Düsseldorf .
