Patrick Wellington Brown (born May 29, 1992 in Bloomfield Hills , Michigan ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League since July 2019 and also for their farm team , the Chicago Wolves , in of the American Hockey League plays on the position of the center .

Career

Brown moved to Boston College after graduating from high school in the summer of 2010 . There he pursued a degree in the following four years. During the period from 2010 to 2014, he also played for the hockey team of the college in Hockey East , a division in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In the first two years, in which the team twice the divisional championship of Hockey East and the national college championship, the striker played only a minor role in the team. Nevertheless, he was appointed to the Hockey East's All-Academic Team in both years. From the third year, which ended with the third nomination for the All-Academic Team, Brown was used more often. In his last year he was the team captain and collected 30 points in 40 missions. Overall, he completed his college career in spring 2014 with 43 points in 120 games.

After the attacker remained undrafted , he was signed up for two years by the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League in mid-April 2014 . The Hurricanes put Brown on their farm team Charlotte Checkers in the American Hockey League from the start of the 2014/15 season . There he was part of the regular squad for the next two years, but also completed 14 NHL games for Carolina during this period. In the summer of 2016, the Carolina Hurricanes extended the expiring contract by one year and used it mainly in the AHL during the 2016/17 season . With the Checkers he won the Calder Cup at the end of the season .

After five years in the organization of the Hurricanes, Brown joined the Vegas Golden Knights as a free agent in July 2019 .

family

Brown's father Doug was also active in the National Hockey League , played a total of 963 games between 1986 and 2001 and won the Stanley Cup twice . He also took part in four world championships and the 1991 Canada Cup . Doug Brown's younger son Christopher Brown is also an ice hockey player and was selected in the sixth round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in 151st position by the Buffalo Sabers .

Uncle Greg Brown was active in the NHL and the German Ice Hockey League between 1990 and 2003 . Like his older brother Doug was also a multiple US national player. For his home country, he completed three world championships and two Olympic winter games . His brother-in-law John Mara is co-owner of the New York Giants franchise from the National Football League .
