Zachery "Zack" Stortini (born September 11, 1985 in Elliot Lake , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has played for the Charlotte Checkers in the American Hockey League on the position of the center since July 2017 .
Career
Stortini began his career as a hockey player with the Newmarket Hurricanes, for which he was active in the 2000/01 season in the Ontario Junior Hockey League. He then played for four years for the Sudbury Wolves in the Ontario Hockey League . During this time he was selected in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft in the third round as a total of 94th player by the Edmonton Oilers . Initially, however, the attacker was on the ice in the 2005-06 season for the Iowa Stars and Milwaukee Admirals in the American Hockey League (AHL) before making his National Hockey League debut for the Oilers the following year , of which he made his debut was used regularly in the NHL until the end of the 2010/11 season .
On July 5, 2011, Stortini signed a two-way contract for one year with the Nashville Predators , but was used almost exclusively on the farm team with the Milwaukee Admirals. After spending the following season with the Hamilton Bulldogs , the Canadian signed a one-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks in July 2013 . The Ducks used him exclusively in the AHL with the Norfolk Admirals , as did the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2014/15 season with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms . In July 2015, he signed a two-year contract with the Ottawa Senators , whose farm team, the Binghamton Senators , he led for a year and a half as captain. In January 2017, Stortini, along with Buddy Robinson and a seven-round vote for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, was given to the San Jose Sharks , who in return sent Tommy Wingels to Ottawa.
Subsequently, Stortini received no further contract in San Jose, so he joined the Charlotte Checkers from the AHL in July 2017 as a free agent . With these, he won the Calder Cup for the second time in his career in June 2019 , which he first won with the Hamilton Bulldogs in 2007.
