Calder Cup playoffs
mode
The six best teams in the American Hockey League qualified for the play-offs. In the first play-off round, the second of the Eastern and Western Division met the third and the two division winners met. The two winners from the duels between the teams in places two and three then met in the second round, while the winner from the duel between the two division winners was automatically qualified for the final by a bye . The first play-off rounds took place in best-of-three mode, with the two division winners playing in best-of-seven mode for participation in the finals. The second play-off round took place in the best-of-five mode. The final itself, however, was played in best-of-seven mode.
