The 1937/38 season was the second regular season of the International-American Hockey League (from 1940 American Hockey League - AHL). During the regular season, the seven teams played 48 games each. The six best teams in the league then played in a play-off round for the Calder Cup .

Calder Cup playoffs
mode
The six best teams in the American Hockey League qualified for the play-offs. While the two division winners received a bye in the first play-off round , the other four qualified teams competed from the first play-off round. The first two play-off rounds took place in the best-of-three mode. The final itself, however, was played in the best-of-five mode.
