The 1960/61 season was the American Hockey League's (AHL) 25th regular season . During the regular season, the seven teams in the league played 72 games each. The four best teams in the AHL then played in a play-off round for the Calder Cup .

Calder Cup playoffs

The four best teams in the American Hockey League qualified for the play-offs. In the semifinals and finals, these played the Calder Cup winner. While the semi-final series of the first against the third of the regular season was played in the best-of-seven mode, the series of the second against the fourth was played in the best-of-five mode. The final also took place in best-of-seven mode.
