The 1942–43 NHL season was the 26th season in the National Hockey League . Six teams played 50 games each. The Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup after a 4-0 win in the final series against the Boston Bruins .

After the Brooklyn Americans no longer competed this season due to disputes regarding the use of Madison Square Garden , the " Original Six " began, which lasted until 1967 .
