The 1921/22 NHL season was the fifth season of the National Hockey League . The mode has been changed this season. They played 24 games and the top two played the NHL winner in two games. Here the Toronto St. Patricks defeated the leaders of the regular season, the Ottawa Senators and met in the Stanley Cup final on the winner of the PCHA, the Vancouver Millionaires , who had prevailed against the winner of the WCHL. The Toronto St. Patricks won the series 3-2. The dominant player was Ottawa's Punch Broadbent who scored in 21 of the 24 games and set a record that is still valid today by scoring at least one goal in 16 consecutive games. Punck scored 27 times in these games. On February 11th Toronto and Ottawa parted 4: 4 after overtime. It was the first draw in the now five-year history of the NHL. Ten days earlier, brothers Odie and Sprague Cleghorn from Montreal shocked the Senators. With their rough pace, they knocked three Ottawa players injured off the ice. Both were thrown off the ice and were fined $ 30 each by the NHL after the game. Meanwhile, Toronto goalkeeper Jake Forbes practiced a game that is very familiar to us today. In the battle for a $ 2,500 contract, he suspended the entire season and was then transferred to Hamilton.
