The 1957/58 NHL season was the 41st season in the National Hockey League . Six teams played 70 games each. The Stanley Cup won the Montréal Canadiens after a 4-2 win in the final series against the Boston Bruins . Maurice Richard was the first NHL player to score goal number 500. As with his goals number 100, 200, 325 and 400, the opponent this time was Chicago. As the first African American player ran for Boston Willie O'Ree .
