The 1964–65 NHL season was the 48th season in the National Hockey League . Six teams played 70 games each. The Stanley Cup won the Montréal Canadiens after a 4-3 win in the final series against the Chicago Black Hawks . Four years after retiring from his career, Ted Lindsay made his comeback with the Red Wings at the age of 39 and was very successful with 14 goals and 28 points. With Ulf Sterner , the first NHL player to learn to play ice hockey in Europe made his debut. With more and more teams, it became the norm to go into a season with two goalkeepers. Detroit's rookie goalie Roger Crozier started with a great season and was in goal in all 70 games of the season. After this season, no goalie has ever played all of the season's games.
