The 1961-62 NHL season was the 45th season in the National Hockey League . Six teams played 70 games each. The Toronto Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup after beating the Chicago Blackhawks 4-2 in the final series eleven years after their last win. For the first time in NHL history, two players are tied for the Art Ross Trophy. Bobby Hull and Andy Bathgate achieved 84 points. The trophy went to Hull as he had scored more goals. He is the third one to have scored 50 goals.
