The 1962-63 NHL season was the 46th season in the National Hockey League . Six teams played 70 games each. The Toronto Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup after a 4-1 victory in the final series against the Detroit Red Wings . That season, Glenn Hall's streak of 551 consecutive games has ended. The goalie had to leave the ice due to a pinched nerve in his neck and skip the game that followed. Sid Abel took over as General Manager of the Detroit Red Wings after Jack Adams had held this position for 35 years.
