The 1965/66 NHL season was the 49th season in the National Hockey League . Six teams played 70 games each. The Stanley Cup won the Montréal Canadiens after a 4-2 win in the final series against the Detroit Red Wings . The "Golden Jet" Bobby Hull set new scoring records with 54 goals (22 of them in power play) and 97 points in one season. The NHL announced that six more teams would take part in the game from the season after next. In Buffalo and Vancouver the disappointment was great as these two cities were not included.
