ARK Logic

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ARK Logic, Inc. ( A dvance R endering K ernel) was a manufacturer of graphics chips from 1993 to 1999 .

The privately owned company was founded in early 1993 in San José / California . The aim was to produce particularly simple and therefore inexpensive graphics chips. The company was based in Santa Clara .

history

The first graphics chip from ARK Logic, the ARK 1000PV, was also the most successful. As a pure 2D graphics chip, it was able to find buyers due to its price and the market situation at the time with many suppliers of relatively equivalent products.

The successors ARK 2000PV, 2000MT, 2000MI and 2000MI + were far less successful, which was mainly due to the competition from the emerging 3D accelerators .

On May 18, 1998, ARK Logic's first 3D accelerator, the ARK 8100 Tiger 3D, was announced. However, this graphics chip was never installed on graphics cards. The successor ARK 8800 Cougar 3D was announced on February 8, 1999, but it was never released. As a result of these failures, ARK Logic ceased operations.
