The Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup for the fourth time in six years after beating the Montréal Canadiens 4-3 in the final series . It was 42 years before the next cup went to the Wings. The Zamboni made its debut on March 10th . In the Maple Leaf Garden in Toronto, the ice was prepared for the first time with such an ice machine before the game and during the third-party breaks. The players weren't used to it, however. The game ended goalless.
