John William "Johnny" Bower (born John Kiszkan ; born November 8, 1924 in Prince Albert , Saskatchewan ; † December 26, 2017 in Toronto , Ontario ) was a Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who worked for the New York Rangers and Toronto from 1953 to 1970 Maple Leafs played in the National Hockey League . He has won four Stanley Cups and is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame .

Career

At 17 he went to the military for four years and then played in the lower classes for a few years. Even in his first years with the New York Rangers he did not make the breakthrough and when he moved to Toronto, he played his second season there. At the beginning of his NHL career he was over 30 years old and when he was first elected to the "First All-Star Team" he was already 37 years. He won the Stanley Cup with the Maple Leafs in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1967, and by the time he retired in 1970 he was 45 years old.

In 1976 he was honored with the induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame . 30 years later, the American Hockey League honored him with his induction into the AHL Hall of Fame .

He died on December 26, 2017 in Toronto at the age of 93 of complications from pneumonia .
