David Alexander "Dave" Kerr (born January 11, 1910 in Toronto , Ontario ; † May 11, 1978 ) was a Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who played for the Montreal Maroons , New York Americans and New York Rangers in the National Hockey League from 1930 to 1941 played.

Career

During his junior years he played for the Toronto Canoe Club in the OHA . In 1929 he moved to Montreal, where he won the Allan Cup with the Montréal AAA . In the 1930/31 season he made his NHL debut with the Montreal Maroons .

There he had succeeded Clint Benedict . In the goalkeeping duo with James Walsh , he was ousted by Normie Smith the following year . He was loaned to the New York Americans for a game to replace the injured Roy Worters . For the 1932/33 season he later returned to the Maroons team.

After ten games in the 1934/35 season , he moved to the New York Rangers . In 1938 he was the second ice hockey player to make the cover of Time magazine . His sixth season in New York, the 1939/40 season was his most successful. He was personally awarded the Vezina Trophy , with the Rangers he won the Stanley Cup . He played one more season before retiring from his career.

After his time as a hockey player, he bought a hotel in Belleville .
