Career

He grew up with his brother Sprague in Montreal and learned to play ice hockey. In 1909 he went to New York and played there in the USAHA. He returned to Canada the following year. He played a year at Renfrew Hockey Club in the NHA before returning to league rivals Montreal Wanderers in his hometown. In his first season 1918/19 he scored 17 goals and led together with his teammate Newsy Lalonde the top scorer list. From the 1921/22 season he played together with his brother Sprague for the Canadiens. In the 1923/24 season , the two won the Stanley Cup .

From the 1925/26 season he was a player-coach with the newly founded Pittsburgh Pirates . When the Pirates goalkeeper Roy Worters was injured before a game, he even stood in his team's goal once. In the following two years he only played a few games when needed. After the 1928/29 season , he also gave up the coaching job.

He was always closely connected to his brother. When Sprague died on July 11, 1956, it hit him hard. On the day of the funeral, he himself died of heart failure.
