Bill Thoms (born March 5, 1910 in Newmarket , Ontario , † December 26, 1964 in Toronto , Ontario) was a Canadian ice hockey player (center) and coach who worked for the Toronto Maple Leafs , Chicago Black Hawks and Boston from 1918 to 1928 Bruins played in the National Hockey League .

Career

During his junior years, Thoms played with the West Toronto Nationals and the Toronto Marlboros in the OHA . His first station with the professionals were the Syracuse Stars in the IHL , where he was in the squad together with Syd Howe .

He came to the NHL in the 1932/33 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs . Here he took part in 1934 in the first ever NHL All-Star Game in favor of Ace Bailey . For the Leafs he scored 23 goals in the 1935/36 season , with which he and his teammate Charlie Conacher topped the NHL's top scorer list.

During the 1938/39 season he was given in diving for Elwyn Romnes to the Chicago Black Hawks . Here he was the team's best scorer in the early 1940s. In January 1945 he moved to the Boston Bruins . There he played the season to the end before ending his active career.

Shortly afterwards he took over the coaching position with the Toronto Marlboros. Shortly before the end of 1964, he died of a heart attack.
