Jeffrey Tory (born May 5, 1973 in Burnaby , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and current coach , who currently looks after the junior team of the Portland Pirates in the United States Premier Hockey League .

Career

Tory began his career on the team at the University of Maine in the US college league NCAA ( Hockey East ) and moved to the American Hockey League for the 1996/97 season . In the same year he completed 54 games for the Canadian national team and scored 45 points. After several years in the International Hockey League , he moved to Europe in the summer of 2001 in the German Ice Hockey League for the Kassel Huskies .

He spent a total of six years in the German elite league, half of the time under contract with the DEG Metro Stars , before the Austrian record champions EC KAC signed him for the 2007/08 season. While he stood out in Germany with a hard shot from the blue line, he managed to set the club's season record for assists with 40 assists in 49 games in Klagenfurt . In the following two seasons, too, he showed particularly good offensives. In the spring of 2010, however, it became known that the club no longer extended the contract with him. For the 2010/11 season Tory was signed by HDD Olimpija Ljubljana . After the season he went back to Germany, where he signed a contract with the second division Eispiraten Crimmitschau .

Since summer 2013, Tory has been the head coach of the Portland Pirates' U18 youth team in the United States Premier Hockey League .
