The 1949/50 season was the fifth regular season of the International Hockey League . During the regular season, the five teams played 40 games each. In the play-offs, the Chatham Maroons prevailed and won the first Turner Cup in their club's history.
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Akron Americans stopped playing.
- The Detroit Bright's Goodyears stopped gaming.
- The Detroit Jerry Lynch discontinued gaming operations.
- The Louisville Blades moved to the United States Hockey League .
- The Milwaukee Clarks moved to the Eastern Amateur Hockey League .
- The Muncie Flyers stopped playing.
- The Toledo Mercurys moved to the Eastern Amateur Hockey League .
- The Windsor Hettche Spitfires were relocated to Detroit , Michigan and from then on played under the name Detroit Hettche .
- The Chatham Maroons were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Sarnia Sailors were added to the league as an expansion team.
