The 1987/88 season was the 43rd regular season of the International Hockey League . During the regular season, the nine teams played 82 games each. In the play-offs, the Salt Lake Golden Eagles prevailed and won the second Turner Cup in their club's history.
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Saginaw Generals changed their name to Saginaw Hawks.
- The Indianapolis Checkers were relocated to Denver , Colorado and changed their name to Colorado Rangers .
