The 2000/01 season was the tenth regular season of the United Hockey League (until 1997 Colonial Hockey League ). The 15 teams were supposed to complete 74 matches in the regular season , but the schedule had to be changed due to the early, financially-related departure of the Mohawk Valley Prowlers . The team with the highest points in the regular season were the Quad City Mallards , who won the Colonial Cup for the third time in the play-offs .
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Elmira Jackals were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The New Haven Knights were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Madison Kodiaks were relocated to Kalamazoo , Michigan and changed their name to Kalamazoo Wings .
