The 1997/98 season was the seventh regular season of the United Hockey League (until 1997 Colonial Hockey League ). The ten teams completed 74 encounters each in the regular season . The team with the highest points in the regular season were the Quad City Mallards , who won the Colonial Cup for the second time in the play-offs .
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Dayton Ice Bandits went inactive.
- The BC Icemen were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Utica Blizzard were relocated to Winston-Salem , North Carolina and changed their name to the Winston-Salem IceHawks .
