The 1999/2000 season was the ninth regular season of the United Hockey League (until 1997 Colonial Hockey League ). The 14 teams completed 74 matches each in the regular season . The team with the highest points in the regular season were the Quad City Mallards , while the Flint Generals won the Colonial Cup for the second time in the play-offs .
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Fort Wayne Komets from the International Hockey League were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Madison Kodiaks were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Missouri River Otters were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Madison Monsters were relocated to Knoxville , Tennessee and changed their name to Knoxville Speed .
- The Thunder Bay Thunder Cats were relocated to Rockford , Illinois and changed their name to Rockford IceHogs .
- The Winston-Salem Icehawks were relocated to Glens Falls , New York and changed their name to the Adirondack Icehawks .
- The Saginaw Gears were relocated to Massillon , Ohio , in December 1999 and changed their name to Ohio Gears.
