Rudnik nad Sanem (until 1997 Rudnik , Yiddish : רודניק Ridnik ) is a city in the powiat Niżański of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland . It is the seat of the town-and-country municipality of the same name with a little over 10,000 inhabitants.
geography
The place is located near the river San , hence the name part nad Sanem (on the San), which was added to the official name in 1997. The city is located 6.4 km southwest of Ulanów and 47 km northeast of Rzeszów .
history
A serious catastrophe occurred in Rudnik station on July 17, 1917, when an ammunition train of the Austro-Hungarian army parked there exploded . 59 people died.
