Career

Jean-Pierre Vigier began his active career in the ice hockey team of Northern Michigan University , for which he was active from 1996 to 2000 in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . Vigier then signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Thrashers in the National Hockey League . In the 1999/2000 season, the attacker gained first experience in a professional league with the Orlando Solar Bears in the International Hockey League and scored a goal for the Solar Bears in three games. In the following season he was almost exclusively in the IHL, but also made his debut in the NHL and remained in two games without points and punishment. In the 2001/02 season , Vigier was mainly with the Chicago Wolves , the farm team of the Atlanta Thrashers, in the American Hockey League and won the Calder Cup with the team at the end of the season . In the following year, the attacker succeeded in increasing his points and scoring 60 points for the Wolves in a total of 72 games .

For the 2003/04 season , Vigier was finally accepted into the NHL roster of the Atlanta Thrashers and completed 70 NHL games during the season, in which he scored 18 points. The following season the Canadian spent due to the lockout again with the Chicago Wolves and pushed the team to the finals of the Calder Cup, but lost the series in four games against the Philadelphia Phantoms . After the offensive player had only been with the Atlanta Thrashers in the NHL for the next two years, he was not offered a new contract in Atlanta in the summer of 2007. On 3 August 2007, he signed as a free agent with the HC Servette Genève in the National League A . In the 2007/08 season he made it to the playoff finals with Geneva for the first time and lost the series in six games against the ZSC Lions .

The right-shooter ran another season for HC Servette Genève on the ice. In June 2009 Vigier finally signed a contract with SC Bern . In the 2009/10 season he won the Swiss championship with the Bernese. In April 2011 he extended his expiring contract for another season. He then ended his active career.
