A deck of Zwicker playing cards

Zwickern (sometimes also Zwicker) is an old card game for two to eight players. The rules vary slightly in their details depending on the region, but the basic rules are identical in every variation. Mainly it is also similar to the Greek game Xeri and the oriental Pişti .

regulate

It is played with the French picture (52 cards plus 6 jokers), with more than four players with two hands. The aim is to stab as many cards as possible on the table.

Card values

The cards have the following values:

procedure

Each player receives four cards individually. Four cards are also laid out on the table for all to see, hereinafter referred to as " picture ". Now it is time to take cards out of the picture. It is allowed to stab if the held card value corresponds to one or more cards of the picture. So with a king (value 14) you can get a 9 and a 5 (together value 14). Even if there are several picture cards in the picture, they can be pierced with just one card. So you can stab two women out of the picture with a woman's card and if the two remaining cards add up to 13 (the card's value of the woman ), then these are also collected. If, as in the last case, you have cleared all cards, this counts as a twilight and counts more in the settlement. When the players' hand cards are used up, they receive four new ones. If a player cannot cut a card out of the picture, he places one of his hand cards on one in the picture. Those placed on top of each other must not exceed 14. Cards placed on top of one another can be stabbed with their added value.

Billing

When all cards are used up, a game round ends. The winner is whoever achieved the most or, if agreed, who achieved the previously agreed points. These include:

  • most cards struck = 1 point
  • 7 of diamonds and 7 of spades = one point each
  • pricked ace = 2 points
  • Pince-nez = 3 points
  • 10 of diamonds = 10 points
