John Cullen Award
The John Cullen Award was a hockey trophy of the International Hockey League . The trophy was awarded annually from the 1996/97 season until the league was dissolved in 2001 to those players who fought their way back into the team after a protracted injury or illness and who contributed to the team's success with their achievements. The award was named after John Cullen , who overcame non-Hodgkin lymphoma and then returned to the National Hockey League . Until 1999, the trophy was given as the Comeback Player of the Year Award .
