Guy Andrew Hebert (born January 7, 1967 in Troy , New York ) is a former American ice hockey goalkeeper who played for the St. Louis Blues , Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and New York Rangers in the National Hockey League from 1991 and 2001 .
Career
Hebert played for the Hamilton College team during his junior years . Because of his good performance, he was selected in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues . He began his professional career in the Blues farm team with the Peoria Rivermen in the IHL . There he developed well and was elected to the league's All-Star Team.
In the 1991/92 season the Blues as outdated back-up for Curtis Joseph in the NHL. After his second season in St. Louis, he was committed in the 1993 NHL Expansion Draft by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim . For many years he was a constant in the Ducks goal. He represented his team at the 1997 NHL All-Star Game . At the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1994 , he was in the squad of Team USA . With 27 shutouts he was the most successful goalkeeper of the Mighty Ducks (and Anaheim Ducks) until 2008, when he was surpassed by Jean-Sébastien Giguère . In the 2000/01 season , Jean-Sébastien Giguère was followed by a young goalkeeper who overtook Hebert. After being signaled that his contract would not be renewed, Hebert was put on the waiver list by the Mighty Ducks in March 2001 , from which the New York Rangers selected him. There he played the season to the end, but got no further contract and ended his career at the age of 34.
International
Hebert took part with the US national team in the 1994 World Cup and the 1996 World Cup of Hockey . At the 1994 World Cup, he made six appearances as a regular goalkeeper and finished the tournament with the USA in fourth place. At the World Cup of Hockey 1996, which the Americans won in the final series against Canada , Hebert was in a game and acted mainly as a back-up for Mike Richter .
