The Great Falls Americans were an ice hockey team from Great Falls , Montana, USA . The team played in the 1979/80 season in one of the top three Canadian junior ice hockey leagues, the Western Hockey League (WHL).

history

The Edmonton Oil Kings from the Western Hockey League were relocated to Great Falls, Montana in 1978 and renamed Great Falls Americans. The franchise only won two of its 28 games in which it scored three points. It was then withdrawn from the current game operations during the season and was henceforth inactive. Following the 1979/80 season, the inactive franchise was reactivated and relocated to Spokane , Washington , where it then took part in the game operations of the WHL under the name Spokane Flyers .
