Trevor Kidd (born March 26, 1972 in Saint-Boniface , Manitoba ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who played for the Calgary Flames , Carolina Hurricanes , Florida Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League as well as the Hannover Scorpions played in the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Kidd began his career in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League with the Brandon Wheat Kings . There the left catcher was a regular goalkeeper and was used in 63 games in his first season, in which he received an average of 4.15 goals per game. During the 1990 NHL Entry Draft , Trevor Kidd was selected as number 11 by those in charge of the Calgary Flames in the first round. In 1991 he joined league rivals Spokane Chiefs , for whom he was in goal 29 times. Especially in the play-offs, Kidd showed good performances and had to hit an average of 2.07 times.
In the summer of 1991 he finally moved to the National Hockey League for the Calgary Flames, for which he completed his first two NHL games in the 1991/92 season . For the 1997/98 season he left the Flames and signed a contract with the Carolina Hurricanes , where he was in the squad for two years. In Carolina he was only a substitute goalkeeper. In the following years he was also on the ice for the Florida Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs . In total, Kidd has made 397 appearances in the National Hockey League and another 31 in the American Hockey League and the International Hockey League .
After the second lockout in the history of the NHL, Kidd moved to the Hanover Scorpions in the German Ice Hockey League for the 2005/06 season . At the Scorpions he was the goalkeeper and conceded an average of 2.95 goals per game in the main round. This made him one of the best goalies in the league. With the Hanoverians he reached the play-off semi-finals in the same year, where the club lost 3-0 to the eventual champions , the Eisbären Berlin . During his time in the DEL, Kidd often stood out for his extravagant hairstyles and the designs of his goalie masks. After he didn't get a new contract with the Hannover Scorpions, he went back to Canada, where he now leads the "Mountain Bean Coffee Co".
In addition, with its “Kidders Kids” campaign, Kidd is committed to helping children who are socially disadvantaged. He enables children to accompany him at home games of his team and to take a look behind the scenes.
