Basic Instinct is the fourth music album by the American singer Ciara , who moves musically in the R&B and hip-hop area. The album sold over 32,000 copies in the United States in its first week. The album's lead single is the track Ride with rapper Ludacris . Other releases from the album are U Got Me (Basic Instinct) , Speechless and Gimmie Dat .

Ciara recorded the album in Atlanta and New York City within a year . R&B singer Usher wrote and sang the song Turn It Up . Ciara co-wrote all the songs. With the album Ciara wants to return to her musical roots, hence the title Basic Instinct . The 1992 film of the same name also inspired her to create the album title. After the release of the lead single Ride with Ludacris , Ciara recorded another version with André 3000 and Bej Major . Songs like Pretty Girl Swag and Ride (Remix) appeared on the Japan Deluxe Edition of the album.
