Selva de Oza

The Selva de Oza is a forest area in the Pyrenees in the province of Huesca in the autonomous community of Aragon . It is mostly located in the municipality of Valle de Hecho and is crossed by the Aragón Subordán River. The forest is surrounded by the between 2300 and 2700 m high mountain peaks Peña Forca (2390 m), Punta Agüerri (2450 m), Castillo de Achert (2384 m) and Bisaurín (2668 m).

In the area there are three dolmens and the remains of a Roman road built under Antoninus Pius . This road has been used as a pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela since the Middle Ages .

flora

Mainly firs , pines and beeches grow here . Other native plants here are yew , maple and birch, as well as the common spindle bush and various types of mushrooms .

fauna

Bears , polecats , chamois , roe deer , wild boars , badgers , pine martens , foxes , tree squirrels , otters and other animal species are native to the forest area . Trout live in the river .
