Denys de La Patellière

Denys de La Patellière , real name Denys de Dubois de La Patellière (born March 8, 1921 in Nantes , † July 21, 2013 in Dinard ), was a French film director and screenwriter .

Career

After attending a film school and working for the newsreel “Actualités françaises”, Denys de La Patellière worked as an assistant to Georges Lampin . He mainly shot dramas (six films with Jean Gabin alone ). Comedies, thrillers, war dramas ( taxi to Tobruk ) and epics ( In the kingdom of Kublai Khan with Horst Buchholz ) remained exceptions. His last film in 1973 was the celibacy and residency drama The Abbé and Love with Robert Hossein and Claude Jade . After that, Denys de La Patellière worked for television (including 1979 The Count of Monte Christo with Jacques Weber ).
