Lloyd Phillips

Lloyd Phillips (* 14. December 1949 in South Africa ; † 25. January 2013 in Los Angeles , California ) was a born in South Africa and New Zealand grew up film producer .

Life

Phillips began his career as a photojournalist. In the early 1980s he turned to film production.

In 1981 he was awarded the Oscar in the Best Short Film category for the short film The Dollar Bottom - his first ever production . He then went to the United States and settled in Malibu .

As an executive producer, he was most recently involved in the films Inglourious Basterds (2009) and The Tourist . The by Zack Snyder directed new Superman film Man of Steel , where he was also involved, was published posthumously in June, 2013.

Phillips died of complications from a heart attack at the age of 63. He was survived by his wife, Beau St. Clair (deceased 2016), who also worked as a film producer.
