Jeanne Cooper

Wilma Jeanne Cooper (born October 25, 1928 in Taft , California - † May 8, 2013 in Los Angeles , California) was an American actress .

life and career

Jeanne Cooper's film career began in the 1950s and she had her first major role in 1953: Myra in Wyoming's Head of Fire . She played in other westerns before she developed into a television series actress from the 1960s.

Cooper then became widely known for her impersonation of Katherine Chancellor in the soap opera Shadow of Passion . At times she also played her own doppelganger, Marge Cotrooke . Cooper was not in the first episodes of the television series, which started in March 1973, but she made her debut in the series in November of that year. She was longer than any other actor on the series. She received the Daytime Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2004. On August 20, 1993, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (television category) for her work . In 2008 she won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series .

Jeanne Cooper was married to television producer Harry Bernsen from 1954 to 1977 , and they were parents to three children, actors Corbin , Collin and Caren Bernsen. Even after the divorce, they remained good friends until Harry Bernsen's death in 2008.

She died in May 2013 after months of illness.
