Alfredo Landa Areitio (born March 3, 1933 in Pamplona , Navarra , † May 9, 2013 ibid) was a Spanish actor and comedian .

Life

Alfredo Landa was born in Pamplona in 1933 as the son of a police officer in the Guardia Civil . He completed his school education in San Sebastián and began his acting career at the theater . He made his film debut in 1962 in José María Forqués Atraco a las tres alongside José Luis López Vázquez .

Landa was best known for his roles in successful Spanish comedies , but he was also able to assert himself in more serious roles.

In 2007 he announced his retirement from the film business. The following year, writer Marcos Ordóñez published the comedian's authorized biography under the title Alfredo El Grande. Vida de un cómico ("Alfredo the Great. Life of a Comedian").

Alfredo Landa was one of the "heavyweights of Spanish cinema".

Alfredo Landa was nominated for the Goya for Best Actor seven times , more often than any other actor during his lifetime. He won the award twice; this puts him behind Javier Bardem , who has already won the trophy three times.
