Garrett Lewis

Garrett Lewis (born April 2, 1935 in St. Louis , Missouri , † January 29, 2013 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor , art director and production designer , who won four Oscar for best production design and once for one Emmy was nominated.

Life

Lewis began working as an actor in the early 1960s and had a number of roles in films and television series before he began his work as a production designer in 1978 and has since worked on the creation of almost 40 films.

At the Academy Awards in 1989 he was nominated for an Oscar for the best production design for the first time, with Albert Brenner for girlfriends (1988). Further nominations for an Oscar in this category followed in 1990 with Norman Garwood for Glory , 1992 with Garwood for Hook (1991) and most recently in 1993 with Thomas E. Sanders for Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992).

In 2000 he was also nominated for an Emmy for outstanding art direction with Charles Wood and Marc Zuelzke in Geppetto, the Toy Maker (2000), a production for the television station ABC .
