Frank Morriss

Frank E. Morriss (born September 15, 1927 in Texas - † July 3, 2013 in Northridge , California ) was an American film editor .

life and career

Frank Morriss graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1946 and began studying at Santa Monica College after two semesters at the University of Oregon .

Morriss' work as a freelance editor began in 1966 with the editing of the television series Laredo and ran for several years until the late 1970s . He was also responsible for editing Steven Spielberg's duel . With his first foray into the cinema business, in 1973 with Der große Coup , he received his first major film award nomination , namely the BAFTA Award nomination. From the beginning of the 80s to the end of the 90s , Morriss concentrated completely on the cinema business and only turned back to television in the last few years. During his time in the cinema, he worked successfully for many years as the trunk editor of John Badham, editing films such as A Bird on a Wire , code name: Nina and The Flying Eye , for which he received his first Oscar nomination for best editing in 1984 . He received his second and so far last Oscar nomination the following year for Robert Zemecki's Hunting for the Green Diamond .
