Max's Bar (OT: Inside Moves ) is an American drama film directed by Richard Donner . The film is based on the novel by Todd Walton .
action
After attempting suicide, Roary is left partially crippled. He continues his life in a shabby Oakland , California home . There he spends a lot of time in a nearby bar where numerous other crippled people meet. Roary befriends the barman Jerry.
Jerry also has health problems with his leg. As he demonstrated his skill as a basketball player, he caught the attention of Golden State Warriors players .
They borrow money for Jerry, which he uses to pay for an operation on his leg. Jerry becomes a successful basketball star and no longer wants to have anything to do with his old, crippled friends.
Awards
Diana Scarwids View as Louise, Roarys girlfriend, earned in 1981 a nomination for the Oscar as best supporting actress .
