John Savage (actor)
John Savage ; actually John Youngs (born August 25, 1949 in Old Bethpage , Long Island , New York ) is an American film actor and producer .
Life
John Savage is the son of insurance salesman Floyd Youngs and his wife Muriel. He has three siblings, radio maker Robin Youngs, actress Gail Youngs, and actor Jim Youngs.
Savage studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City . His breakthrough came in 1978 with the war film The Deer Hunter (The Deer Hunter) of Michael Cimino alongside Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken . The following year, he starred in Milos Forman's movie musical Hair the lead role of Claude Bukowski and 1990 in The Godfather III of Francis Ford Coppola a supporting role as Father Andrew Hagen.
In total, John Savage has appeared in over a hundred feature films and television films. From 1988 to 1994 he lived in South Africa and worked with Nelson Mandela in the anti- apartheid movement. From 2000 to 2002 he played in the television series Dark Angel as Donald Lydecker.
Savage was married to actress Susan Baptist from 1967 to 1969, their daughter is actress Jennifer Youngs; In 1993 he married the actress and nurse Sandi Schultz.
