Rolv Wesenlund (1967)

Rolv Helge Wesenlund (born September 17, 1936 in Horten in Vestfold , † August 18, 2013 in Ullern near Oslo ) was a Norwegian comedian , music producer , singer and actor .

He was best known in Norway for the impersonation of numerous leading roles in the theater, in musicals as well as in film and television , such as in the series Bør Børson Jr. and the portrayal of the main character Marve Fleksnes in the television series Fleksnes .

Life

Career

Wesenlund began his career in his youth as a jazz musician (clarinet) and won the Norwegian jazz championships NM i jazz for two years. He was then hired by the NRK as a jazz journalist and worked for a jazz magazine and for a jazz column in the daily newspaper Dagbladet .

Since 1964, Wesenlund has worked as an actor and screenwriter in the theater, including several engagements in Chat Noir , ABC-Teatret , Oslo Nye Teater and Det Norske Teatret . Due to his reputation as a specialist author for various newspapers and a freelance jazz journalist at the NRK, he was employed at the end of the 1950s as recording studio manager and music producer by Philips and from 1964 to 1965 by the Norwegian singer and composer Arne Bendiksen . In this role, Wesenlund worked for Philips in the 1960s, also in Bergen , to market the music of local Norwegian music groups, the so-called Beat Bergen , a special Norwegian music style from the period from 1964 to 1967. As a songwriter he wrote lyrics to some bands , including Twist it in 1962 .

Since 1966, Wesenlund was also program manager at the NRK. Together with other young, up-and-coming actors and artists such as Harald Heide-Steen junior , Harald Tusberg , Bengt Calmeyer and the Swedish director Bo Hermansson , Wesenlund gradually established himself as an entertainer and improvising comedian thanks to his cheeky comedy character in the Norwegian entertainment media . On television he first drew attention to himself with the show Kunden har alltid rett (The customer is always right), a parody of all contemporary television programs. At the same time on the radio with the then legendary program Telefonrøret and Hørerøret , as well as in a revue together with the actresses Elsa Lystad and Karin Krog in Oslo's Lysthuset Cabaret Theater, all of which were released on record.

His well-known television appearances included the 1969 series Og takk for det , which featured in many skits such as Kirsti Sparboe . Also since the end of the sixties he performed together with the actor and comedian Harald Heide-Steen junior as a duo Wesensteen . In this series they presented the Norwegian classics like Supperådet, Hos tannlegen and Doble Fustasjeopphengsforkoplinger . The series was subsequently marketed as an LP , which became one of the best-selling albums. Likewise, many of his Norwegian television programs and series at the time were subsequently produced in an equally popular Swedish version. He appeared in the Swedish entertainment series Publikfriarna from 1968 to 1970 and 1972 in the Swedish comedy Skärgårdsflirt . Wesenlund also made a name for himself in Sweden with his role as Marve Fleksnes in the series Fleksnes fataliteter . Through the accent he used there , the so-called Svorsk , a Swedish with a Norwegian accent , he created Swedish humor in his own way . The use of this Swedish-Norwegian pronunciation played with the cliché of Sweden on the Norwegians, who mostly stereotype them as simple-minded and less gifted comical people.

Wesenlund was active as a radio announcer , as in the hilarious radio series Radio Skagerak , which was also released on an LP with the Norwegian record brand Triola due to its great popularity . A few other successful appearances by Wesenlunds, such as the show Feriebiskop Fjertnes , was also re-released as a record under the title Feriebiskop Fjertnes slår til igjen and was a best seller in Norway in 1968.

In the theater he had several leading roles in various performances, including in Charley's Aunt at Det Norske Teatret in 1994 . Due to its great success, the performance of Chateau Neuf was continued, and was re-performed for television in Riksmål . He also played Leopold in the theater Sommer i Tyrol at various theaters in Oslo , Århus and Copenhagen . He also made a well-known appearance in 1987 in the role of a homosexual transvestite in Jerry Herman's play La Cage Aux Folles at the Chateau Neuf Theater.

In many Norwegian films and classics such as Norske byggeklosser , Den siste Fleksnes , Bør Børson jr. Beingslund played the leading role , men som ikke kunne le . He also had a guest appearance in 1982 in the Norwegian Olsen Gang in the film Olsenbandens aller siste kupp in the role of "Hotel Inspector Adonisen". Furthermore, Wesenlund had his own talk show on Norwegian television under the title Wesenstund , which was broadcast on Norsk TV1 and on TVNorge . Wesenlund's appearances on television were particularly popular with the target group over 50 and senior citizens. On the occasion of his 60th birthday in 1996, the NRK1 broadcast a feature on the television program Rolv about the life of Wesenlund; this was seen by a million viewers. Wesenlund's last public appearance was in the Christmas series Den unge Fleksnes (The Young Fleksnes) on TVNorge, which aired Christmas 2010. There he played Marve Fleksnes in a dream sequence by young Fleksnes , played by Reidar Fredrik Frydenlund .

Private

Wesenlund lived until his death in Oslo District Frogner at the Frogner terrace . He was married to Ruth Wesenlund and they had three children and three grandchildren. Rolv Wesenlund was a Freemason and a member of the Johannisloge St. Johanneslogen St. Olaus til den hvide Leopard , a Masonic lodge of the Christian Norwegian Freemason Order , in which he achieved the second degree according to the Swedish rite .
